Buy A Parking Spot Nyc

Anyone have any recent experiences/data points that they can share regarding the price that parking spaces are trading? While the subset is small, if it makes any difference this would be in the village. I looked at the streeteasy data as NWT helpfully suggested, but that is a small sample and very Tribeca heavy. Thanks. You can share offline as well at nyc_sport at yahoo dot com.

And most of all, will someone please solve the mystery of the stagnant parking cost? From the 1980s, as housing sale & rent prices have soared, and more and more suburban assholes have flooded NY, monthly 24/7 parking rates in most reasonably prime neighborhoods have stayed right around $500, give or take. And they've been doing the tile-puzzle thing with the cars since back then, so it's not like they can squeeze more cars in now than then.

If "prime" neighborhoods you mean UES/UWS, there is ample parking to begin with, there has been virtually no loss of parking, and relatively little population increase. Still, I have no idea what you are talking about re stagnant parking costs, or who was paying $500 in the "1980s." I paid $135 a month for my first space in a full service garage downtown in 1990. If you wanted to park in the lots on east or hudson river in the early 1990s, it was about $75 per month but you paid $5 to retrieve the car. I now pay $600+. Different garage, but only 20 blocks away from the first one that was 1/5 the price 23 years ago.

Here is why it is better to own. I have had to change garages 3 times in the past 10 years. Each time, the garage was torn down/turned into condos. Two more nearby garages just closed. The city makes it nearly impossible to include parking in new developments. The data NWT pointed to suggests that 8x10 foot parking spaces are trading at $250-300K. That makes those undergrounds spaces worth way more psf than the apartments above.

A parking space that is 8x10 must be a typo. minimum 8x18 if not 8x20. The city allowed the developer to build new buildings without the inclusion of any parking space. They purposely did that so that the building can pass the environmental impact statement (EIS) easier in the name of encouraging transit use.

Municipal parking fields do not allow overnight parking. The fields close as shown in the posted regulations for each facility. Parking after posted hours may result in a summons and leaves the vehicle at risk as there is no security at the closed facilities.

Obtaining a reservation does not guarantee that a parking permit will be issued. The customer must obtain the actual parking permit at the selected garage. The permit will be issued at the selected garage once all the required steps have been completed. A limited number of permits will be available for reservation and purchase in-person at each garage.Download the flyer (pdf)Access the Parking Reservation System

Pricing: Pricing varies on your reservation and there is also a service fee and sometimes an oversize fee if you have a larger vehicle. Brick found monthly parking in Queens for as low as $199 and in Manhattan for as low as $400.

Pricing: The app is free to use and parking varies by location. You might have to pay a convenience fee. Pango Save is $3 a month if you want notifications when your parking time is up.

Last year, developer Morad Fareed purchased the eight-story prewar loft building for $120 million and is in the process of converting the former parking garage into six luxury condominiums with mammoth, 15-foot-high ceilings.

The NY State Vehicle and Traffic Law defines the permanent disabilities that qualify. If you have a permanent disability that qualifies, you can get vehicle plates for reserved parking from the DMV or a parking permit from your local government. It is illegal to park in a parking space reserved for persons with disabilities if you do not have the correct vehicle plates or parking permit. You can use the vehicle plates or parking permit in New York State and in most other states.

You and your healthcare provider can complete the Application for a Parking Permit or License Plates, for Persons with Severe Disabilities (PDF) (MV-664.1). You also can have your healthcare provider (MD, DO, DPM, or NP) complete a statement on their letterhead. The statement must describe the disabling condition and verify that the disability qualifies according to the law. Bring the form or statement to the issuing agency in your locality (normally the office of your city clerk, town clerk or village clerk). There is no fee for a permit. Remember that the DMV does not issue the parking permits.

A locality can establish a local law or ordinance to reserve parking spaces on a street and install the signs. Municipalities do not have control over the assignment of parking spaces in private parking lots, but many facilities provide their own reserved parking. If you have a question about reserved parking for people with disabilities on a specific street, determine if the street is part of county, city, town, village or state property. Then contact the correct officials for that locality. Shopping centers that include five or more retail stores are also required to provide and reserved parking spaces for customers with disabilities.

New York City does not set aside reserved spaces on its streets for persons with disabilities. Reserved parking spaces are only available off-street, in parking lots for shopping centers/malls, office/apartment buildings and college campuses. You can use the vehicle plates for people with disabilities or a state permit for people with disabilities to park in reserved spaces in those off-street lots. However, the NYC Department of Transportation issues a City permit (a rectangular dashboard permit) that allows persons with severe disabilities to park at most curbsides on NYC streets. City permits are issued to people with a permanent disability that so severely affects their ability to walk that they require the use of a private automobile. The New York City parking permit is not valid outside of NYC. For more information or to obtain an application for a NYC permit, call (718) 433-3100 or visit the NYC Department of Transportation's website.

For information about a metered parking waiver and how to apply, see the Application for Metered Parking Waiver for Persons with Severe Disabilities (PDF) (Forms MV-664.1MP) and Metered Parking Waiver Information (PDF) (MV-664.2MP).

The NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law does not allow New York City to issue metered parking waivers to NYC residents, and the New York City Department of Transportation does not issue metered parking waivers.

Reserved parking for people with disabilities ensures safe and equal access to goods and services, access which most of us take for granted. This publication explains the rules that businesses and all drivers should observe about reserved parking spaces. It also presents information on how to obtain license plates and parking permits that allow individuals with severe disabilities to use specially-marked parking spots.

Reserved parking for people with disabilities is a legal requirement, not just a courtesy. You can help support the law by parking in reserved spaces only if you have a permit or plates for people with disabilities, and only when the person who received the permit or plates is actually in the vehicle. Please avoid parking in the access aisle or striped area next to a reserved parking space - it is not a parking zone. This special area is needed for access by people who use wheelchairs and specially-equipped vehicles.

To qualify for the license plates or the parking permit, you must present proof of the disability from a medical doctor (MD), doctor of osteopathy (DO), doctor of podiatric medicine (DPM, licensed in NYS only) or optometrist (OD, for blindness). Only these medical professionals are considered "doctors" as the term is used in this publication. A doctor licensed in New York or another state may certify for conditions #1 through #8 previously listed. Only doctors licensed in New York State may certify for condition #9. A podiatrist must be licensed in NYS, and may certify applicants only for severe disabilities of the foot.

It is also a misdemeanor under the NYS Penal Law (Section 210.45) to make a false statement or provide misinformation to obtain a parking permit for a person with a disability, and is punishable by fines from $250 to $1,000. Additional civil penalties from $250 to $1,000 may also be imposed under Section 1203-a (4) of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. These penalties also apply to doctors providing certifications, as well as applicants.

If your vehicle already has a valid registration with New York license plates and you already have a permanent parking permit for people with disabilities that was issued in New York State, you must present this permit and a copy of the Application for License Plates and Parking Permits for People With Severe Disabilities (MV-664.1) showing the medical certification (or doctor's statement) used to obtain the parking permit. The medical certification must be dated no more than one year prior to the application for the license plates. Do NOT apply if you hold only a temporary parking permit. To apply, you must complete a Vehicle Registration/Title Application (MV-82) and pay a fee for the new plates displaying the Universal Symbol of Access. If this transaction is done at any time other than at renewal, a $3.75 transaction fee will be charged. 041b061a72
